2018 February Meeting Minutes

PINE ISLAND RIDGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
MONTHLY MEETING
FEBRUARY 19, 2018

ATTENDANCE: Jeff Kwolek, Jim Onik, Elizabeth Sengupta, Yolla Blair, Bob Smith, Rich Mulder and Joshua Lawrence.

HOMEOWNERS: Paul Hilbrich, Janet Hernandez and Jesse Hernandez.

NO TOWN VISITORS

MINUTES FROM JANUARY 15, 2018 MEETING
• Mrs. Blair made a motion to accept the minutes and Mr. Onik seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

TREASURER’S REPORT
• The following bills have been paid: NIPSCO $70.60, preparation of 1099 is $300, attorney fees $112.50 and $190.80 for DreamHost bill.
• $500.12 in past dues has been collected.
• Approximately 80% of 2018 assessments have been paid.
• Mr. Mulder made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Mr. Smith seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

COMMON AREAS AND LANDSCAPING
• There is an uprooted pine tree at Tree Branch pond that will need to be removed when the weather warms up.

PONDS
• Aquatic Weed Control has sent a bid which matches their price from the previous year.
• Representative of Aquatic Weed Control reports that it is possible to have a fountain or aerator in Twin Lakes pond. Mr. Onik will invite the representative to our next meeting to answer questions.
• Mr. Lawrence will contact NIPSCO with regards to the cost of electricity to run the fountain or aerator.
• Mr. Lawrence will contact Lake Biologists for further information.
• A willow tree in the northeast corner of Tree Branch pond needs to be removed.
• There are several dead trees by Timber Leaf pond.
• At Twin Lakes pond there are dead trees at the north and southeast sides. Further action on these dead trees will be determined during the spring walk around in April.
COMPLIANCE
• Mr. Lawrence has emailed to the board members a copy of the letter he has sent to our attorney for clarification of certain by-laws and covenants.
COMMUNICATION
• The current DreamHost bill is good for 2 years and costs 190.80. Mrs. Blair made a motion to pay the bill and Mrs. Sengupta seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
• Further inquiry is needed to retain control of the website.
SPECIAL EVENTS
• No new business.
ARC
• No new business.

OLD BUSINESS
• Waiting for reply from attorney on sent letter regarding questions on by-laws and covenants.
NEW BUSINESS
• Mr. Smith will contact Season’s owner in March to invite him to the spring walk around.
HOMEOWNER’S QUESTIONS
• Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez are new homeowners in the subdivision and had questions with regards to approvals for fences, the garage sale and crime in the area. All their questions were answered.
• Mr. Hilbrich is concerned for the domesticated ducks that are released into Timber Leaf pond each year because they eventually end up being killed by natural predators in the area. He had contacted Erin’s Farm located in Hobart that would have taken the ducks during the winter but it was too late to save them. The board will be notifying homeowners through the newsletter that it is illegal to release these ducks into the ponds.

• Mr. Kwolek made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Mr. Onik seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
• The next monthly meeting is March 19, 2018- 7:00pm at Rosati’s.
